Cassandra Syndrome - Relationship & Identity Distress Scale (CS-RIDS-24)
-
Approximate time: 5-7 minutes to respond to 24 questions.
-
This self-assessment is designed to measure the emotional and relational impact of being in a partnership with someone who may be on the autism spectrum (or otherwise neurodivergent).
-
Subscales: It explores four key areas ("subscales"):
-
relational distress
-
identity erosion
-
communication and validation
-
coping and resilience
-
-
Understanding your scores:
-
For your Total Score:
-
Add the scores from all 24 items to get a total ranging from 24–120.
-
Higher total scores indicate more significant Cassandra-related distress.
-
General guidelines (not rigid cut-offs):
-
89-120: Severe Cassandra-Related Distress
-
57–88: Moderate Cassandra-Related Distress
-
24–56: No Cassandra-Related Distress
-
-
-
For Subscale Scores:
-
Each subscale’s range: 6–30.
-
Interpretation Guide:
-
6–13: Low Distress
-
14–22: Moderate Distress
-
23–30: Severe Distress
-
-
A higher subscale score indicates more distress (except that “Coping & Resilience” measures a mix of strain and resilience, but higher scores there still reflect greater overall difficulties).
